New Installations, LIC Show & Open Studio
I just returned from a very successful trip installing sculptures in downtown Chicago and Suwanee, Georgia.
My latest sculpture, Hand Plant, was placed in downtown Chicago with the Chicago Sculpture Exhibit. This is my third year participating in this lovey show that places sculpture all over Chicago. The location for this year’s piece is 1308 North State Street. Please take a look if you are there visiting and take an audio tour around the show with Otocast, a cool app with recordings of the artists talking about their work. It is a fun way to gain insight and information about the different sculptures.
I also placed my kinetic sculpture, Swinging II, with the SculpTour show in Suwanee Georgia. This is another show that I have been involved with for about five years. I have my twenty foot tall sculpture, Dancer XX, on display there and was thrilled to add Swinging II to the show in its prominent location in front of City Hall.
I will also be included in a wonderful show in Long Island City as part of Long Island City Arts Open 2017 called Upstanders, a curated exhibition of artists whose powerful integration of social concerns with their materials and processes awaken our shared humanity. May 17th – 21st Reception Thursday, May 18th 6-9pm, The Factory, #414, 30-30 47th Ave, LIC, NY 11101
Lastly I would like to invite you to join me in my studio for a visit on Friday and Saturday May 19th & 20th from 10-4pm. I will be opening my studio as part of LIC Arts Open which is the seventh year of our local Long Island City based arts festival. Come out to walk around and visit artists in their studios and join in on the amazing exhibitions and events!
Hope to see you at some of these great events!
